Alcohol, Tobacco and Drug Policies


The Athletics Department discourages the consumption of alcohol at all athletically related events and receptions where students are present. Furthermore the Department prohibits:

* The consumption of alcohol on team buses/vans or other vehicles of team transportation.

* The possession or consumption of alcohol at competition sites, in team locker rooms or while a student-athlete is in uniform.
 
Furthermore, students must comply with the laws and policies of the United States, New York State, New York City and the regulations of Lehman College.


Tobacco Policy

Lehman College Department of Athletics does not permit the use of smoking or smokeless tobacco at anytime. Anyone who is found violating these rules will be asked to terminate activity as soon as possible. The second and third violation will result in a warning sent to the head coach and the Director of Athletics.

NCAA Rules state: The use of tobacco products by student-athletes, coaches, officials and fame personnel during practice and competition is PROHIBITED. Violation of this will result in dismissal for the remainder of the competition.

Drug Policy

Any student-athlete who tests positive for drugs or alcohol, when tested by the NCAA or national sport governing body, will lose their eligibility according to the NCAA or governing body regulations. The individual will also be ineligible for participation for any Lehman College intercollegiate athletics team for a minimum of the remainder of the current academic year and a maximum of their remaining enrollment at the College.

All student-athletes must sign a Lehman College Drug Testing Consent Form. Any student-athlete who tests positive on the Lehman College Drug Screening will be subjected to Department and team sanctionsí A student-athlete who tests positive will be subject to re-testing in accordance with the drug-testing program. An outcome of a subsequent positive drug test may result in dismissal from the team.
