Box Score

The Lehman College women’s basketball team (9-12 Overall, 7-3 CUNYAC) picked up an impressive conference victory on Wednesday evening, turning back the Bloodhounds of John Jay College (0-21 Overall, 0-10 CUNYAC) by a score of 80-56 at the APEX Center in the Bronx.

 

In the victory for Lehman, the Lightning were led by the stellar performance of standout Leslie Mencia, as she scored a game-high 29 points (11-22 FG) to go along with nine rebounds. She drained seven treys on the evening in one of the more dominating performances the conference has seen this season. In addition, point guard Paula Robinson continued her recent solid play as she contributed with 13 points, eight assists and a pair of steals, and Tiana Rosa netted six points and snatched 10 rebounds on the evening. Following the victory, head coach Eric Harrison gave his thoughts.

The Lehman College women’s basketball team (8-12 Overall, 6-3 CUNYAC) dropped a hard-fought CUNYAC contest on Alumni Day at the APEX Center, falling to the the Brooklyn College Bulldogs (11-8 Overall, 6-3 CUNYAC) by a score of 77-71 in overtime on Saturday afternoon.

 

Prior to the contest, the annual Alumni Day game took place. Women’s basketball players of the past who played in the alumni contest included Sally Nnamani, Shirley Arrieta, Ivelisse Rosario, Kimberly Kelly, and Maria Loor.

The Lehman College women’s basketball team (8-11 Overall, 6-2 CUNYAC) picked up their third consecutive victory (and third straight conference triumph) by defeating the Yellow Jackets of New York City College of Technology (3-15 Overall, 1-7 CUNYAC) by a score of 55-36 Wednesday evening at the Klitgord Gymnasium in Brooklyn, NY.

 

Leading the way for the Lightning in the victory was standout Leslie Mencia who posted yet another double-double, as she dropped in 17 points and snatched 16 rebounds. Mencia has now played in six games for Lehman College and she has posted double-doubles in four of them. In addition, Melissa St. Louis added 10 points while grabbing 12 rebounds, and Tiana Rosa connected on four of her seven shots from the field and recorded nine points while snatching seven caroms. Kelsey Ash also chipped in with eight points. Following the victory, head coach Eric Harrison gave his thoughts on the team’s recent surge.

The Lehman College women's basketball team (7-11 Overall, 5-2 CUNYAC) won its second consecutive game as the Lightning defeated the Beavers of the City College of New York (5-12 Overall, 3-5 CUNYAC) by a score of 82-77 Saturday afternoon at the Nat Holman Gymnasium in upper Manhattan.

 

In the win for Lehman, the Lightning were paced by the stellar performance of freshman Tiana Rosa who posted another double-double as she contributed team-highs of 17 points and 17 rebounds while blocking a pair of shots and connecting on seven of her 12 shot attempts. In addition, standout Leslie Mencia added 17 points (6-14 FG) to go along with six rebounds, and senior Kelsey Ash netted 14 points and dished four assists. Also, Melissa St. Louis and Paula Robinson both scored in double figures for Lehman, with St. Louis finishing her afternoon with 13 points, and Robinson ending the day with 10. Following the victory, head coach Eric Harrison gave his thoughts on the win.

The Lehman College women’s basketball team (6-11 Overall, 4-2 CUNYAC) picked up a conference victory, defeating the Cougars of Medgar Evers College (5-10 Overall, 1-5 CUNYAC) by a score of 67-47 Wednesday evening at the APEX Center in the Bronx.

 

In the victory, Kelsey Ash put forth a tremendous effort with a team-high 18 points (6-13 FG) in 29 minutes of action. In addition – Leslie Mencia – playing in her fourth game for Lehman College – netted 16 points on 7-of-22 shooting to go along with 12 rebounds, four steals, and three assists, and Melissa St. Louis put together a fine all-around effort with 12 points, a game-high 12 assists, four rebounds, and four steals. Following the game, head coach Eric Harrison praised his team’s unselfishness.

On Saturday afternoon, January 30th, the Lehman College men’s and women’s basketball teams will take on the Brooklyn College Bulldogs in doubleheader action on Alumni Day at the APEX Center. The Lightning women will play their game against Brooklyn at noon, and the Lehman men are scheduled to tip-off at 3:00pm. In between those contests, former members of Lehman College men’s and women’s basketball teams will participate in a “throw-back” contest, a game that is always a hit among the Lightning fans.

 

Some former women’s basketball greats scheduled to be at the APEX Center on January 30th for the annual alumni game included Lehman College women’s basketball all-time leading scorer Sally Nnamani (2,113 career points) as well as Lehman College Hall of Famers Desiree Ross (second all-time in points at the institution with 1,275 points), and Ivelisse Rosario (former four-year Lightning standout as well as current associate head coach of the women’s basketball team). Lehman College head coach Eric Harrison thinks it’ll be great to see some of the former Lightning standouts make their way back to Lehman College.
