Lehman College Athletics Places Fifth in CUNYAC Commissioner's Cup

QUEENS, N.Y. – The CUNY Athletic Conference has announced the final standings in the race for the 2013 Commissioner's Cup, and the Lehman College program placed fifth out of nine member schools. Lehman scored 36 total points in 2012-13, the fifth highest total.

The Commissioner's Cup annually recognizes the strongest athletic program in the CUNY Athletic Conference, as determined by a scoring system which rewards a school for success both during the regular season and championship competition.

Points are awarded for first (10), second (5) and third (3) place finishes in all regular season finishes. In Conference tournaments, first (10) and second (5) place is awarded in all head-to-head championship finals, while third place points (3) are awarded in every other sport, where there are five or more participating schools. Also, due to the difference in sizes of athletic programs in CUNYAC, a school can only use their top ten sports in any academic year. If the situation occurs where there are two institutions tied for the CUNYAC Commissioners Cup, the institution that has won the most CUNY tournament championship titles will be named the winner.

This year, Lehman scored points in men's swimming and diving (15), women's outdoor track (10), women's indoor track (5), baseball (3), and women's soccer (3).

A year ago, Lehman placed sixth, with 23 points.

This year's Full Commissioner's Cup results:
1. Baruch College: 162.5 points
2. College Staten Island: 106.5 points
3. Hunter College: 74 points
