Lehman College Cheerleading Program
| About the Cheerleading Program |
|
The Lehman College cheerleading program was founded in 1994. Each year, a group of motivated students construct a unit that practices routines for a February competition among other CUNYAC cheerleading programs. Being a member of the cheerleading team at Lehman College is a terrific way to stay in shape, make friends, and enjoy the college experience.
The Lehman cheerleaders have captured four conference championships in their 13 year history, while also finishing in third place in both 1997 and 1998 and second place in 2002 and 2003. Now in it’s 14th year, the team looks forward to taking that next step to first place.
Stacy-Ann Letford is entering her seventh season as the head coach of Lehman's cheerleading program. Letford was member of the Lightning from 1994-1998, and during that span, she captured two MVP awards ('96-97 and '97-98). She also served as team captain during her time with the team. Letford's terrific worth ethic sees her practicing four times a week with the team, and her guidance and will for excellence make the Lightning a contender for first place in the championship cheer competition each season.
In addition to cheer competitions, the cheerleaders show their school spirit by volunteering to cheer at men's and women's basketball games.
The cheerleading team is always looking for new members! If you'd like more information on how to get involved with the Lehman College cheerleading program, please contact Head Coach Stacy-Ann Letford at 1-718-960-8106 or e-mail her at Stacy.Letford@lehman.cuny.edu.
