The Lehman College cross country teams returned to action on Saturday morning and competed in their final tune-up for the 2009 CUNYAC cross country championships as they ran in the CTC championships which were held on the campus Richard Stockton College. Lehman’s women’s unit placed 10th out of 12 participating schools, while the Lightning’s men’s squad only had three competitors and did not score.

On the women’s side, Lehman’s best performance came from the consistent Dorothy Jean-Pierre as she placed 58th overall in the meet by clocking in at a time of 27:17.81. Michaelle Garcon finished 26 seconds later as she clocked in at 27:43.41.

Rowan University won the women’s competition with a total of 20 points. Coming in second place was the host school – Richard Stockton College – who finished with 77 points, and placing third was DeSales University with 100 points.

Lehman’s top finisher on the men’s side was RiShawn Marshall who placed 126th by clocking in at a time of 34:00.17.

On the men’s side, DeSales University won the meet with a total of 68 points, and Rowan University finished right behind with 69 points. Placing third was Ramapo College with 74 points. The men’s meet was highly contested, with only six points separating the first and third place squads.

The Lehman College men’s and women’s cross country teams will return to action on the morning of Sunday, October 25th, as the units will compete in the 2009 CUNYAC cross country championships at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. The women’s meet begins at 9:30, with the men’s competition following at 10:30. Lehman’s women’s unit will be gunning for its first conference crown since 2005, while the men’s team will hope to capture its first championship ever.
