The Lehman College Indoor Track and Field teams returned to action on Saturday as members of the squads participated on day two of the Eastern College Athletic Conference championships, which were held at Tufts University.
A day after standout Pete Charles won the triple jump event with a leap of 14.58, the sensation competed in the long jump event, recording a score of 6.94, just two centimeters short of qualifying for Nationals. Charles played a big role in helping the Lightning to their second consecutive CUNYAC crown, and his performances at the ECAC championships were also very encouraging.
On the women’s side, the consistent Chianne Ashman recorded a season’s-best time in the 55-Meter Dash, completing that event with a time of 7.27. Also, Lauren Lourick, who played a big role in helping Lehman win its third CUNYAC title in four seasons, competed in the long jump event and finished seventh with a leap of 5.10.
Charles will be representing Lehman College at Nationals next weekend in Terre Haute, Indiana. For the latest updates on how the three standouts fare, keep it posted to www.lehmanathletics.com next weekend.
