iPhone App to Change How Spectators Follow Swim Meets at Lehman

BRONX, N.Y. - Over recent years the popularity of the iPhone has exploded and with it has come an avalanche of “apps” created to help people do everything from ordering takeout to finding the nearest place to get their dog groomed.

Well, fans of swimming can now rejoice, too, as an application called Meet Mobile, designed by The Active Network, will forever change how swimming enthusiasts follow their favorite sport.

Most importantly, the application will have a greater impact closer to home as Lehman Athletics and the APEX Center will be using the technology in conjunction with swimming and diving meets held at Lehman College, including the upcoming CUNYAC Championships held from February 2-4.

For those unfamiliar with the app, it will display meet results in real time as Meet Manager (the program used by those running the meet to keep track of event times) receives data from the electronic timing system in place. The results will then be streamed live as long as there is an internet connection available. The Meet Mobile app can display each heat's and event's results sorted by event or by swimmer, including splits and places.

The app can be downloaded on the iPhone, iPad or iTouch. Even better, it's free. Now if mom or dad can't make it to the meet and want to follow their son or daughter's progress, they can do so from anywhere in the world!

So next time you're at the APEX taking in a meet, there's no need to wait for the results to be posted; you can check them yourself at any time.
