Srdanovic, Gordon Named Lehman Athletes of the Week

BRONX, N.Y. - The Lehman College Athletics Department is proud to announce that men's swimming standout Ivan Srdanovic and women's basketball standout Jaleesa Gordon have been named the Lehman Athletes of the Week as a result of their outstanding performances during the week of January 16-22.

Though the Lightning men swam only one race last week, Srdanovic was front and center, much like he has been for nearly every race this season. Facing the College of Staten Island, the Lehman junior won two events that helped propelled his squad to a victory. Srdanovic won the 200-yard freestyle event with a time of 1:53.82 and also won the100-yard freestyle event with a mark of 49.30.

Gordon has been on a roll during the month of January, compiling four double-doubles and five games of double digit scoring in the team's six games. In two games this past week, CUNYAC matchups against Brooklyn and York, Gordon averaged 19.5 points, 15.5 rebounds, and 5.5 blocks per game while shooting 58 percent from the field. Against Brooklyn she tallied 14 points, 16 boards, seven blocks, and three blocks in a losing cause. In a winning effort against York, she poured in a season-high 25 points to go along with 15 rebounds, four blocks and two steals, while converting 69 percent of her shots on the night.
